Blog Basics!

My thoughts about blogs are confusing I guess. I have never really liked them but that was probably because I have never known how to use one! I guess as we go along in this class, I will find out if I like them or not. As a teacher, blogging could help students and parents alike receiving information from the teacher. My son's teacher sends out an update for their class blog every friday with important information about the upcoming week. She also includes pictures of the activities they have accomplished during their week. I like being able to see what Chase has been working on. If I used a blog to inform parents, I would like them to look forward to getting updates weekly to see what their children are doing! Blogs can hold all kinds of information and lessons for both parents and students.

I found these two examples of blogs that are both amazing for helping students and teachers in their education. The first one is an educational foundation founded by George Lucas. It has videos for all class grades and for teachers too. I am excited to use this site more when I am an actual teacher!

The other blog page I found is called Homeroom and it is a blog made by the Department of Education. This blog is designed to keep the topics and conversations around education and learning. It has informational topics from budgets to student aid to innovation. I think that this blog is an awesome tool for teachers because it has information on every single topic you could think of.
